The Horticultural Department within the National Institute for Applied Research in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine is organized and operates based on the INCAAMV Statute and organizational chart approved by Government Decision No. 668 of September 25, 2024. The Horticultural Department is based on: the Horticultural Plant Technology Section, the Horticultural Plant Immunology and Protection Section, the Gene Pool, Horticultural Plant Improvement and Selection Section, and the INCAAMV Horticultural Crop Virology and Sanitary Control Laboratory. The Horticultural Department plays an important role in stimulating scientific research, diversifying areas of investigation, developing fundamental research, training highly qualified personnel, increasing innovation and technology transfer, and is currently the only scientific center for applied research and coordination of investigations in the field of horticulture, viticulture, winemaking, and the food industry in the Republic. Over the years, as a result of applied research, concepts and developments have been advanced and scientifically substantiated, contributing to the opening of new directions of research and bringing a substantial contribution to the sciences. The structure of the Department includes the following research subdivisions: Section "Horticultural Plant Technologies"; Section "Immunology and Protection of Horticultural Plants"; Section "Genetic Resources, Improvement and Clonal Selection of Horticultural Plants"; Laboratory "Virology and Phytosanitary Control of Horticultural Crops."
